A Letter from Sr. Carol Keehan, DC, concerning new insurance coverage opportunities through the Affordable Care Act

As you are aware, millions of uninsured people will soon become eligible to sign up for health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act. The Catholic Health Association (CHA) is a founding member of Enroll America, a coalition working to inform Americans about the new coverage opportunities becoming available. Starting in October, eligible people will be able to sign up for insurance benefits that become effective in January 2014.

Enroll America has launched a public awareness and grassroots campaign, Get Covered America, to explain how enrollment works and who is eligible. As part of that effort, CHA has produced a new video to help inform members of your staff and community.

Please watch CHA’s new “Ready, Get Set, Enroll” video and re-post the YouTube link. Help get the word out! Share CHA’s video today – on your web site, Facebook page, Twitter feed, employee newsletter and any other place you communicate with stakeholders.

Having worked so hard on behalf of meaningful health reform, CHA and its members can now play a role in educating Americans about what’s coming: state-based health insurance marketplaces, expanded Medicaid and many other changes that will improve health care access and quality.

Get Covered America is also providing enrollment resources at GetCoveredAmerica.org.

Below is a letter from Enroll America’s Board of Directors encouraging efforts to spread the word.

Thanks, as always, for your support.

ENROLL AMERICA BOARD OF DIRECTORS UNITED ON IMPORTANCE OF GET COVERED AMERICA CAMPAIGN

Open Letter from Enroll America Board of Directors:

We believe that the tens of millions of uninsured Americans need and deserve access to quality, affordable health care. And by expanding the number of individuals with insurance coverage, we can improve the health care system for all Americans.

This fall, through the Affordable Care Act, consumers will have a variety of quality, affordable insurance options available around the country through new health insurance marketplaces.

But we know people won’t enroll unless they know about it — and that it will take effort by both the private and public sectors to make sure they do. That’s why we’re working as part of a broad coalition of industry leaders, advocacy organizations, government, and others to help ensure the many working families, young people, and others who stand to benefit from the Affordable Care Act this fall have the information they need to make the right choice for themselves and their families.

In the coming months, it will be critical for all of us to spread the word about the important changes coming for consumers this fall. As members of the Board of Directors of Enroll America, we are committed to doing our part. We hope you will join us in this important effort.
