David L. Boyd, Ph.D., L.Ac.
The path to alternative medicine is a journey that David L. Boyd, executive director for the Center for Health & Healing, began many years ago. A scholar with a Ph.D. from Yale University, Boyd became fascinated with the teachings of ancient medicine and its application to today’s diseases, and left academia to study at Pacific Institute of Oriental Medicine and LongHua Hospital in Shanghai, China. He is currently one of the most prominent practitioners of complementary medicine in the United States, having served as the academic dean of Samra University for Oriental Medicine and as the clinic director of complementary medicine at St. Vincent Medical Center. Board certified in Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture, Dr. Boyd is a frequent lecturer on the subject of alternative medicine and writes a regular column for Acupuncture Today magazine. Under his direction, the licensed and certified practitioners at the Center for Health & Healing at St. Vincent Medical Center treat stress-related disorders, musculoskeletal problems, smoking addiction, negative side-effects of cancer treatment, chronic pain, illness and more.
