A Pathway to Professional Development

RNs
St. Vincent Medical Center offers all of our associates the opportunity to reach their professional goals and gain fulfillment throughout their career. RNs (new grads and experienced), in particular, can transition from Medical-Surgical Units to Critical Care by following our professional development pathway.

Transition begins when the Med Surg RN attends our Basic Arrhythmia course (ACLS) and is reassigned to the Telemetry/DOU unit. Should the RN desire to continue on to the Critical Care areas, he or she could apply to our Critical Care course, which is offered bi-annually.  During the course, each candidate is preceptored in our Critical Care areas (Cardiac, General ICU, Transplant ICU, and Neurotoloy). The next level would include training for the ETC/ER with Triage and Trauma courses.

Nursing re-entry
If you are a nurse who would like to re-enter the field of nursing, we welcome you. Contact our recruiting department for more information.

Tuition reimbursement
St. Vincent Medical Center offers tuition reimbursement after (1) year full-time employment up to $1,200 per year.
